Who We Are

God First City Church  exists to help people get and keep God first in their lives. We are an elder-led church that embraces and expresses four primary values: Gospel-Centered, Disciple-Making, Mission-Focused, Spirit-Empowered.

Our full statement of faith is available here

Below, meet our leadership team. This team is made up ordained elders as well as those currently training as elders.

Glenn & Marian Campbell

Glenn is the Lead Elder at God First City Church and brings a variety of ministry experience.

Glenn has been involved in full time ministry for over 30 years. His career began in youth ministry where he pioneered and built two significant youth ministries in Pittsburgh and Atlanta. He later established a youth ministry training model and site in Durban, South Africa.

In 2011, Glenn arrived in Jo’burg to start Core, the high school ministry of God First. He started with two Grade 10 students. After a few months of leadership and discipleship training, there were a couple of weekly small groups and a leadership team charting the course to impact schools in the northern suburbs of Johannesburg. Currently there are hundreds of students involved in weekly small groups, leadership and a large worship gathering.

Glenn has also been involved in creating a market place men’s ministry in Birmingham, Alabama. This ministry trained and equipped businessmen to help their friends and associates to explore the Christian faith through small groups. He trained over 75 men to lead groups in their places of work or at home.

Marian also brings a wealth of women’s discipleship and mentoring to City. She currently leads City Women. This monthly gathering sees hundreds of women worshipping, learning and dialoguing together. Prior to joining God First, Marian was on the staff of a crisis pregnancy centre in Birmingham. Her full time position involved counseling and the training of volunteers to counsel women through various aspects of crisis.

Both Glenn and Marian graduated from Duquesne University with a B.A in Human Resource Management. Glenn also graduated with M.A.T from Reformed Theological Seminary.

In 2015 Glenn and Marian celebrated their 30 year wedding anniversary. They have three adult children: Emily, Grant (married to Ashlee) and Katie.

Glenn is an ordained elder.

Vaughn and Lorele have been married for 17 years and have three children Jordan, Jonathan and Kezia. Vaughn spent 10 years working in various corporates in the banking arena, before him and Lorele were called in 2003 to serve on staff as the Assistant Pastor at a church on the West Rand. Vaughn has been a full time staff elder at God First City since 2009.

Lorele loves seeing people grow in relationship with Jesus and fullfilling all God has called them to do. She loves being a mom and loves it when she gets opportunity to do something creative.
Vaughn is fueled by any opportunity to pastorally care for someone. He sees no greater privilege than being able to bring the hope found in Jesus into people’s circumstances.

Dean & Candice Webb

Dean and Candice have been married for 12 years, and after struggling to have children for two years, are deeply grateful to God for the gift of three wonderful children: Caleb, Rachel and Abigail. Dean has served as an elder since 2012 and is also a passionate entrepreneur who is involved in a few diverse business ventures. Candice is a hands-on mom and also runs her physiotherapy practice from their Fourways home.

After graduating from Stellenbosch University, both Dean and Candice lived lives that were characterized by sin, rebellion and ignorance of God. Through some painful mistakes and family tragedy, both Dean and Candice were awakened to the reality of God and the transformational power of Jesus Christ in the early 2000’s before they got married.

Dean and Candice both love doing adventurous and fun things as a family. You will often find Dean on a bicycle on the weekends and Candice loves to whip up amazing meals for family and guests alike. As long time citizens of Gauteng, the Webb’s are trusting God for His reign and Kingdom to be manifested in Johannesburg in a profound way.

Tham & Lindsey Moyo

Thamsanqa and Lindsey have been married for four years and have one wonderful daughter, Naledi. Tham has been a part of the eldership team at God First City since 2014.

He and Lindsey lead a Community Group. Both Lindsey and Tham gave their lives to Jesus when they were in primary school, and between them have walked a road of many ups and downs as they learn to love and enjoy Jesus more every day. Tham is from Bulawayo in Zimbabwe and Lindsey is a born-and-bred Jo’burger. They met at university in Grahamstown, a place where they both experienced the joy and value of church community and had their perspectives on the awesomeness of God stretched immensely. They are passionate about helping people love God more, drawing people into true community, modeling the Gospel through reconciliation, helping couples build good foundations in their relationships, and studying God’s Word.

Tham loves coffee, running and non-fiction books and Lindsey is a chocoholic, tea-drinking word nerd. They are excited to see God build His church at God First City and to see people’s lives changed as they get to know the wonders of God and apply the Gospel to every part of their lives and hearts.

Tham is an ordained elder.
